PARIS, je t'aime

In this post, I'm not going to tell you how utterly romantic Paris is. How the glimpsing of lovers kissing by the Eiffel Towers is so picturesque it could be in the cinema. How cafe's and coffee shops exude more character and personality than the last book you probably read. How the passing whispers of Parisian conversation sound like dancing silhouettes on a projected screen. I'm not going to tell you any of that. In this post I'm going to be real with you. I going to tell you about the DO's and DON'Ts I learned while traveling to Paris and abroad in general.

For this bit of the trip we met up with a gal named Andrea. Andrea is Paisley's mom's friend who very graciously took us under her wing. We were living lavish to say the least. From our hotel, to copious amounts of fancy Champagne, private tours of the Louvre and Palace of Versailles, to experiencing escargot for the first time (which I loved!), to numerous designer shops; this trip was what I call GLAMOROUS! Without Andrea, I don't think we would have experienced Paris the way we did.

Here are some DO's and DON'Ts I learned while traveling overseas:

DO's
- Get sleep!
- Hop on a Big Bus tour (as touristy as it sounds)
- Meet/talk to locals
- Try new food/drinks you wouldn't normally try (you might surprise yourself)
- Make the most of your time
- Be open to an ever-changing schedule
- Get lost
- Hydrate!!!

DON'T
- Wear new shoes (break them in a few weeks beforehand NOT just a couple of days;)
- Overpack (If budgeted for, you'll want to shop!)
- Get caught in tourist traps (don't dine close to major attractions, owners know a lot of tourist will fall for their convenience and flair but tend to hike up the prices)
- Be that LOUD American (if you're American)
- Be afraid to try something new!
